In 2009/10 the Mens' section will be running 8 teams in the Northern and Yorkshire Leagues ensuring there is a standard of hockey for everyone. We have two training sessions per week under the guidance of our Director of Training and ex GB Capt Norman Hughes.
The 1st and 2nd team squads along with the fast-track junior elite train on Tuesdays with the rest of the club training on a Wednesday evening. Both these sessions are on our purpose-built world-class water-based pitch at College Grove. After 4 teams won promotion in 2007/8, last season was supposed to be about consolidation. However, the 3rd and 4th teams gained promotion again ensuring an even better standard of hockey at Wakefield.
Our long term aim is to ensure Wakefield returns to the National League, but in the short term it is all about enjoying our hockey on and off the pitch. We provide a positive environment for our junior section to be integrated into adult sport and many new players have joined over the past few season and have helped grow the club into the most successful in West Yorkshire.
