It was a stunning performance by the England HockeyID team and our own Rob and Tom at the European Championships in Monchengladbach this week. After matches on Monday, England was placed in Championship 2. They went on to play a very strong German team with a 5:1 loss, Tom scoring the team's solitary goal.

Then a hard fought draw 3:3 against France with a goal from Tom and two from Rob. At the end of day 1, after four matches, England needed to make up a 10 goal difference to have a place in the final.

On Day 2, Rob stepped up to captain the England team. With a mountain to climb, Rob and Tom put in the shift of a lifetime. All the team worked hard together and with 11:0 and 6:0 wins over the Czechs and Ireland, England secured their place in the Final against Germany.

The final between Germany and England was live on German TV. The team played with passion, grit, determination and the pride and roar of lions. A few near misses from both Rob and Tom and a goal from Rob that left the keeper laid out on the pitch wasn’t quite enough and our Hockey ID team brought home a very well deserved silver medal.

The whole team performed amazingly. Congratulations to Rob and Tom on your performances with 12 and 7 tournament goals respectively - simply amazing!
