The Ladies 1s fought to a hard worked victory playing over at Pendle in Lancashire to take themselves to the top of the EH North Conference (at least until Timperley play later today) . Starting hard Wakefield went on to score the only goal of the game from a short corner, snuck in expertly at the far post by Erin to score her first league goal! The quality of the game went a little downhill after this if we're honest. Timms took a sideline hit only to carry the ball back over the sideline, Ffion (who won a few player of the match votes for her heroics in the centre of the park) decided she needed a rest with a 2-minute green, and Brooke took exception to the reaction of a Pendle player after a quick free hit with both players finding they needed some time to cool down via a 5-minute yellow suspension. On top of that keeper Charlotte obviously thought there needed to be a little more excitement so felled a Pendle forward so that she could save the subsequent penalty stroke. Very clever tactic Charlotte as alongside a fair few (lets face it) pretty decent saves later in the game, earned her the player of the match. As the heavens opened and the rain came down, Wakefield Ladies 1s went on to claim an excellent 3-points!!
