Men's 1s Beat Sheffield Bankers In Very Important Game!

The men's first team rounded off a superb weekend and took a massive leap towards promotion with a 2-0 win over Sheffield Bankers on Sunday. It was the first time Wakefield had kept a clean sheet all season and it came at the perfect time. Wakefield went ahead through Oliver Stoddarts drag flick, and extended the lead through a Greg Moorhouse penalty stroke. Wakefield led 2-0 at half-time and were dominating the game with some superb play. In the second half though a 10 minute yellow card for Greg Moorhouse and a 5 minute yellow card for Chad Conlon left Wakefield defending with 10 men for the majority of the second half. Some superb work by all the squad to keep Sheffield out meant Wakefield climb to the top of the league with a 2 point advantage over Bowdon 2s and more importantly move 12 points clear of their nearest promotion rivals.
