Mens/Ladies Section ( Senior)
Match Fees
Match fees are £13.50 per player (including juniors) collected on the day of the match and match fees should be paid over preferably within 2 weeks and at the latest within one month of the match via Pitchero, which is linked directly to the Senior bank accounts. Captains / Managers retain the responsibility for ensuring the money is collected via Pitchero and paid over. Anyone who doesn’t pay is recorded via pitchero and the money chased and received before they play again.
Travel expenses: We rely on the generosity of drivers (and their passengers who can contribute to their share of their driver’s fuel costs) to keep our match fees down, but where a driver feels they need to ask for payment our policy is to pay 35p a mile to those drivers who take at least 2 other players in their car. See the note below under other matters on requirement for at least 2 adults in a car taking under 18s.
The match fee includes a £5 contribution to the costs of coaching sessions during the main season but pre-season, until matches are played, £5 will be collected to cover coaching and training costs at those sessions. Similarly a training fee is collected for coaching sessions in January prior to games commencing. Players who did not play on the previous Saturday should pay the £5.00 coaching fee.
Subscriptions
All players 16 or over at 1st September need to pay the Senior Club subscription and to register on the WHC website. (Those under 16 must be paying membership fee to the Junior Section – ask if not sure). Players who have not registered and paid a subscription by one of the Club’s methods of payment set out in the registration process by 31st October are not eligible to play for the Club. It is the captain’s responsibility to make sure that they do not select ineligible players. The Section Treasurer will provide lists of registered and paying players to captains to help them in this process. Where players join the club in mid-season the subscription is payable and the player must register on the website within one month of starting to play.
Team Report Forms
All league matches require team sheets to be completed before the match on GMS– with details of scorers and cards and the score for the home team sheet completed afterwards. The result of the match needs to be reported by the home team by League deadlines Captains need to be familiar with these deadlines and the requirements of their particular division/league. Rules on player eligibility and in some cases player registration are important and the captain needs to know the rules of their league and observe them well to avoid fines or points deductions.
Warm ups
The opposite pitch may be used (if available) for team warm ups. Please ensure hockey balls are kept below the side boards and players are well behaved to maintain safety of others and equipment. Please ensure all players refrain from hitting hockey balls into the dugouts or at the TD box when on the main pitches.
Facilities
If pitch lights are required or the surface requires watering then contact the duty manager, if you are not authorised to undertake these tasks. No glass should be allowed onto the pitches or spectator areas. All damage must be immediately reported to the duty manager. Their mobile number is on the main board leading down to the bar. Please remove all rubbish from the dugouts after the game using the bins provided.
Teas
As part of the match confirmation process the Match Secretary will try to confirm that your opponents will be staying to teas. Your team should supply teas to the opposition team when playing at home with a maximum budget of £40, refunded once claimed by the section treasurer. Where costs can be kept lower through the generosity of members it helps the Club’s funds. Similarly if playing away and your team are unlikely to be able to stay to teas please let the opposition know so they can avoid unnecessary expense. We do expect our teams to stay to teas whenever possible and to socialise with the opposition after the game. The kitchen must be left clean and tidy after use with all rubbish including that in the kitchen bin removed to the skip and large bins outside.
Umpires
Unless the opponents cannot provide 2 umpires at their ground, the Club preference is to supply 2 home umpires and agree with the opposition to do the same in the reverse fixture. The umpire coordinator will do his/her best to arrange umpires for your team and will notify you of who is appointed . Please make sure that your team thanks the umpires both home and away at the end of the match. We pay our home umpires from £13.50 per game for umpiring (dependent on qualification level) so please ensure you have included the correct umpires appointed on GMS.
Match and practice balls
These can be obtained from the store roo,. Please try to collect all practice balls in at the start of each game and keep them safe over the Summer – and your previous captain should have a supply to hand over.
Playing kit – Club playing kit can be ordered through the Y1 website, but you may need to have some spare green shirts and socks early in the season for new members. Do check each week during the season when playing away that there are no clashes of shirts or socks that will require a change of these to be worn….. there are 2 sets of white shirts to be borrowed from the storeroom. Please ensure these are returned washed and all present in the box provided.
Cancellation due to bad weather
The Match Secretary will have supplied your contact details to the opponents for each game and should be contacted for your opponents’ contact details if there are any doubts about the weather and if games look likely to be at risk of cancellation. Pitch inspections will take place at Wakefield and you will get notifications if the game is on or off – exact details to be confirmed according to circumstances. Please ensure the teas are cancelled and the umpires know if the game is off. Also let the league secretary know and then co-ordinate with the Match Secretary to rearrange postponed games.
DBS certificates
All our Coaches, Managers and Captains need to have DBS certificates in place before they can take up their roles. Please contact Helen Royan email address helenroyan@gmail.com to start the DBS process.
Travel
Please ensure adults do not travel in a vehicle on their own with children Under 18. Cars of members must of course be taxed and insured and kept in a good roadworthy condition.
