The boys win the title and the girls claim third place

The relentless rain couldn't dampen the spirits of Wakefield U10 boys as they battled through the adverse conditions to emerge triumphant in the EH Cup North East Champs.
Undeterred by rain-soaked pitches, our U10 Boys showed their mettle, clinching two wins and a draw. The draw against Gateshead saw them rallying from a 1-0 deficit, showcasing remarkable resilience and determination.

Here's a breakdown of the group stage results:
• Sheffield: Despite the weather, Wakefield displayed their prowess with a hard-fought victory, securing a 1-0 win.
• Gateshead: A tough battle ensued, but Wakefield managed to salvage a draw with a 1-1 scoreline, bouncing back from an early setback.
• Doncaster: In another closely contested match, Wakefield emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, securing their spot at the top of the group standings.

Advancing to the semi-finals as group leaders, Wakefield found themselves facing better weather conditions and renewed energy. In a tense showdown against Ben Rhydding, they once again exhibited their resilience, clinching a narrow 1-0 victory and booking their place in the finals.

The championship showdown against York proved to be a nail-biting affair. With neither team able to break the deadlock after regular time, the match went straight to flicks. Sammy Goldthorpe scored a crucial goal for Wakefield, followed by an exceptional save from goalkeeper Samir Narula. The tension heightened as both teams exchanged goals, but it was Wakefield's Jonas Kaziukonis and William Martin who delivered the decisive blows, securing a thrilling victory and clinching the championship title.

A great day for the U10 Girls too, with an impressive 3rd place finish in their section

It was another successful day for our girls as they battled to a semi-final showdown with York where they played well but lost out to a really strong opposition team.

However in the third and fourth place play-off match, they convincingly beat Sheffield to round off a great weekend for the club. Well done everyone – a great end to the season.
